London Townhouse

Averil Blundell Interior Design worked closely alongside the appointed architects to remodel this London property and bring it into the 21st Century whilst respecting its history and being sympathetic to its listed status.  A key feature of the project was improving the flow of the spaces, particularly on the Ground Floor of the property.  With this in mind the three principal reception and entertaining spaces on the ground floor were linked by sympathetically introducing new openings.  A new Orangery extension was created off the Kitchen on the Lower Ground Floor level, creating an informal dining area looking out onto the private garden at the rear.
The Kitchen flows through from the Orangery and borrows natural light from its French windows and roof glazing.  At all times the key consideration was how the spaces would be experienced and intelligent technology was discretely included at every available opportunity to help future proof the house.  Due to the proportions of the rooms and the building’s history the rooms were given a timeless modern classic appearance with rooms on the Lower Ground Floor given a slightly more modern aesthetic due to their different proportions.
