Decorex and London Design Week can be both inspiring and slightly overwhelming, there is an awful lot to take in in rather a short space of time.

To me Decorex is my favourite trade show of the year as I find it the most relevant and love the opportunity to not only see the new collections but also catch up with suppliers that I don’t always get chance to see; it is often also a chance for me to be able to put a face to a name I have been dealing with via telephone and email, which is always lovely. I think it is fantastic that the new location at Syon Park (since 2014) has allowed for expansion of the event, even if it isn’t as accessible as in previous years when it was in Chelsea and then Kensington.

I hate to follow trends as I feel that good design should be timeless, but I love discovering new collections and products and find it invaluable to keep up to date with what is available. I am always trying to think of new applications of existing materials and technologies and one of my favourite from this year’s 100% Design was using a similar process to surfboard manufacturing to create wooden shower trays, hopefully I’ll get an opportunity to commission one in the coming months!
